Seven Orphans

UPDATE ON THIS POST FEB 5/2025: THE CLEAN WATER PIPE WAS INSTALLED SO THESE KIDS PLUS THE WHOLE VILLAGE IS NO LONGER DRINKING WATER THAT GIVES PEOPLE TYPHOID AND DIARREA. WE NEED MONEY TO SET UP AN ORPHANAGE FOR THESE 7 KIDS PLUS 15 VILLAGE KIDS IN THE HOUSE BELONGING TO THE PARENTS OF THAT WERE KILLED. WE ARE TURNING A TRAGEDY INTO HELPING 20 ORPHANS SO PLEASE HELP US. WE NEED MATTRESSES, BEDDING, SEEDS, CLOTHING AND LIVESTOCK FOR THIS NEW BUT SMALL ORPHANAGE ON ONE ACRE OF LAND.

This morning after posting on facebook for help to pay our Volunteer Minister Julius’s hospital bill, we had two people donate at the same time so it gave us a surplus of $210.

We were delighted because we had dropped a previous fund raising cycle we were working on with 7 recently orphaned siblings in order to handle the health emergency with Martin Wamatsu’s cousin, Julius.

So that extra $210 will pay for a water tap into the village where the 7 orphaned siblings are living.

Their parents died in January. Hanan went to visit them and found them in ragged clothes but overjoyed to see him.

The entire village is drinking contaminated water so the first thing we are going to handle is getting clean drinking water piped in with that $210.

Our VMs in Wanga will also help by bringing the kids food and planting seeds for them and teaching them to survive.

The fresh water tap will be set up near the home of these orphans so villagers will be constantly looking in on the kids when they come get their water.

The kids will be the guardian of the water taps and we want to plant fruit trees all around the tap area.

If anyone wants to help we are raising money for mattresses, blankets, sheets, pillows, backpacks, headlamps, story books, clothes, shoes and jackets etc., for 7 kids.

You can specify what you want to buy:

Mattress: $25 per kid

Blanket: $10 per kid

Jacket: $7 each

Shoes: $5 each

Backpacks: $15 each

Sheets sets: $7 each

Pillows: $3 each

Outfits: $6 each

Solar headlamps: $15 each

Story book: $5 each

$98 per child….$98 times 7 kids equals $686

So if 7 people gave $98 or if 14 people gave $49 we would have it.

This will set the kids up and then our VMs can help them repair their house and plant crops.

They will bring them 7 chickens and a rooster as a gift from Wanga orphanage so the kids each can have eggs and are able to breed more chickens.

Our VMs will build them a small chicken house as well and teach the kids how to look after them.

Later I want to get them two goats to breed so they get milk.

This is just to handle immediate emergencies. Clearly we will continue working to make this village more self-sustaining and get permanent solutions for the orphans.
